My daughter's friend asked if I could make big sister/little sister necklaces for her and her sister. She is 8 and her sister is 23. She asked for the traditional break away heart charms, but I wanted to make something a 23-year-old might want to wear too. Big sister and little sister are written in each other's handwriting. A fresh and modern take on the traditional break away heart Best Friends necklaces. Each charm has a tiny heart. The charms measure 1 1/4" high X 1/4" wide, 3/8" wide at the heart. One is recessed and the other sits just above the surface. Bring the charms together and one heart nests snuggly within the other. I really wanted each charm to have a whole heart; no one should walk around wearing half a broken heart!

The back. When my grandma taught me how to cross stitch, she always said the back of your work should look as good as the front of your work.

Blessed is the influence of one true, loving human soul to another. ~George Eliot

Originally, this was a side project, something I did for my daughter's friend. I love this family and it made me very happy to do it. After the necklaces were done, I showed them to my friends and family. I got such a great response and a couple of requests to make more, that I now offer them in my shop. You can find them  here.
